About

Welcome to my website! Thanks for stopping by.

I am a quilter, teacher, and writer in San Francisco, California. I grew up surrounded by quilters– making my first nine-patch at age eight– and was designing my own bags by high school. I spent the first ten years of my career as a classroom teacher in Spain and San Francisco, teaching both English and Spanish literature and language. I now work full time in the creative community, teaching in-person and online sewing and quilting classes, writing, and running my business, Alphabet Summer. My most recent work has been published in QuiltCon magazine, and I am a regular contributor to the Dear Handmade Life blog. My classes can be found online at Creativebug and CreativeLive. Find out more about my complete class offerings here on my website or by signing up for my mailing list here.

I hope you check out more here! See you soon.

  1. I love your vivid and creative description of yourself. Your challenge is unique and personal, and you have shown a lot of passion. I’m here to explore more of your wonderfully creative projects. Personally, I’m an origami fan and I post some of my origami here in my blog: Papercraft | Janet’s Notebook. Keep up with your great work! All the best to you.

    • Thanks, Janet! I appreciate your thoughtful words! I peeked at your blog: I love how you challenge yourself to write in English (which is flawless, by the way!) I lived in Spain for 7 years, I’m sure we could compare stories of being in strange foreign lands… Ashley

  2. An inspiration you have been and are. Can’t wait to see about this summer’s adventures! Thank goodness for crafting-collisions and life’s rich tapestry. Keep on going through the Alphabet and you ll get whole communities reciting it with you… T is for Thumbs upper-most! x
